    Olhão, the main fishing port in the Algarve, plays host every Saturday to the region’s most famous fish market. Here you will find all the fruits of the sea including squid, clams, conger eel, razor fish and octopus, to name but a few – and, of course, it is all freshly caught.

Indeed Olhão is regarded in Porutal as the last word in sea food and, during August, the city pays homage to its most famous produce by staging the nationally renowned Olhão sea-food festival – not to be missed.
