Milreu - 3rd century AD Roman palace with baths and mosaics.
Eastern Algarve Property – Villas, Apartments, Plots

A short distance from Estói lies the excavated remains of a Roman palace of the 3rd century AD. Visible is the central atrium surrounded on all sides by a colonnade from which the various rooms of the palace radiate.

The remains of the baths are clearly visible, as are fragments of exquisitely intricate mosaics depicting mythical marine/fish motifs. There are indications that the palace had begun life as a farm house in the 1st century AD before being extended and improved at some stage during the following 200 years.
